Catherine DiCarlo, 89, a resident of Manchester Presbyterian Lodge, Fairview, formerly of 344 E. Fourth St., Erie, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000.
She was born in Erie Dec. 7, 1910, daughter of the late Fred and Katherine Sokoloff Panameroff.
She worked as a cook at the SS Kresge Department Store and was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Daniels; and a brother, Alfred Panameroff.
Survivors include her husband 72 years, Russell DiCarlo; a son, Russell DiCarlo Jr. and his wife, Jan DiCarlo, of Erie; two daughters, Lillian Foor and her husband, George, and Dolores Fosco, all of Erie; three sisters, Martha Zolikoff, Alice Muroff and Florence Efimoff, all of Erie; a brother, Frank Panameroff of Erie; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to a service at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 W. Ninth St.
Memorials may be made to the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity Endowment Fund, 251 E. Front St., Erie, PA 16507.

OBIT: John Newton Durant was born near Logan, Hocking County, Ohio, July 23, 1853, and departed this life January 21, 1922, aged 69 years 3 months and 28 days. He was united in marriage to Mary Anne Kimble, January 2, 1872. To this union were born 3 daughters and one son -- Mrs. Clara E. Srawn, now living at Logan, Ohio; Georgie Anna, Mary Maggie and the son having preceded their father in death. His first wife died in 1878. On July 22, 1882, he was married to Eliza Beicher. To this union were born two daughters, and one son -- Mrs. Bertha Bishop of Chicago, Ill., William T. Durant of Columbus, Ohio, one stepson, John H. Hay, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, also survives him. He is survived by two sisters -- Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen and Mrs. Catherine Morton of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and two brothers, Wm. Durant of Logan, Ohio and Lewis Durant of Columbus, Ohio. A number of years ago he made a profession of religion and joined the United Brethren Church. Nearly all of his life was spent in or near Canal Winchester. He was called suddenly out of this life, on Friday night. He seemed to be as well as usual, and spent the evening talking with his family and his neighbors, but before the light of another day dawned his soul took its flight into the world beyond. The funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church, Monday, at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. N. W. Bertner, paster. Interment at Union Grove cemetery. Carole Lawhead, 59, of Oak View, died Aug. 2, 2000. She was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Bedford, Pa.
She married George Lawhead on Nov. 18, 1960, and in 1962, they moved to Ventura. They have lived in the Ojai Valley for nearly 30 years
Mrs. Lawhead was a wife, mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, George Lawhead; daughters and sons-in-law Holli and Cory Ralston of Ojai, and Heidi Lawhead and Tim Albers of Ventura; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Janet Trail, Debra Peck, Geraldine Reed, and brothers Marle, Ron and Kenton, all of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Helen and Murray Foor.
Funeral services were held Monday at noon at the Ojai Valley Baptist Church. A second service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, in Everett, Pa. She will be buried in Artemus, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ojai Valley Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.

NAME: "The father [John Whitehurst] came to Fairfield county in the fall of 1829 and first located in Bloom township, near Greencastle. In the spring of 1845, however, he removed to the farm upon which Jacob Whitehurst is now living. The father was a carpenter by trade and at one time conducted a furniture shop in this county, but subsequently gave his entire attention to agricultural pursuits. He was a man of high moral character and strict principles, was industrious and energetic, and his life work was such as to commend him to the esteem of all. He served as school director and also as supervisor. By his marriage to Margaret Showalter, John Whitehurst became the father of eleven children. Those still living are: Joseph, born in 1823; Norton, born in 1825; Jacob in 1836; Elizabeth in 1837; and William in 1846. Those who have passed away are: Hannah, born in 1827; Sophia, born in 1832; Susana, in 1835; Mary Ann, in 1840; one who died in infancy; and John, born in 1843. The father died March 17, 1856, at the age of fifty-five years, and his wife passed away September 5, 1879, in her seventy-eighth year.
