1879 - mentioned in bio of father as Carrie, now Mrs. Dinsmore. See full text in father's notes.
1880 census shows a VanEpp or VanEpper family, first name Alden who was born Sep 1875. His wife is Mary J. b Dec 1875 in IA whose folks are both listed as being born in NY. Also listed with them are two brother in law's, Edgar Dinsmore b Dec 1881 and Vernie C. Record b Mar 1894 whose parents are both shown as being born in NY. Since Carrie supposedly married both a Dinsmore and a Record, are these her children even though the place of birth for her is listed as NY? In the 1925 census of Comanche, Clinton Co., IA, Mary Vanepps parents are shown as Hanna Drury and Aaron P. Record, so perhaps the Dinsmore brother was a half brother to her.

"Shocking Casuality. A boy eleven years old shoots his brother's head off. It is seldom that we are called upon to chronicle a more lamentable or heartrending affair than the following: Saturday afternoon two sons of Rev. J. S. Weize, at Lithopolis, Fairfield County, were playing in aroom of their father's house, when one of them, elevn years old, took up a gun which was standing in the corner and playfully remarked to his brother, six years old, that he would shoot him, and leveling the gun, fired away, blowing the whole half of the little fellow's head off, killing him instantly. The older brother did not dream of there being a load in the gun, only raising it and leveling it in sport; but it was heavily charged with shot, and the aim was true. mrs. Weize was nearly frantic with her great grief, and the surviving brother was not to be consoled. The gun was kept loaded to shoot pigeons, as they flew over the village in large numbers. Ohio Stat Journal, 27th. [Milwaukee Daily Sentinel, Thursday, March 2, 1860]
Same article as above except this difference: "... Mr. Weize was in Columbus at the time of the accidental fratracide, but a messenger was sent for him, and met him at Shadeville, returning home, when the awful news was imparted.... ... to shoot pigions, as they flew over the village in great numbers, and either the fact should have been made known to the boys, or the gun put of of their reach". [Portsmouth Times, Portsmouth, OH., March 3, 1860]
"On Friday afternoon, while two little sons of Rev. J. S. Wise, Methodist minister at Lithopolis, about fifteen miles from Columbus, were at play together, the elder took a loaded shot gun which he pointed at his brother, making at the same time some playful demand with which the latter refused to comply. He thereupon, utterly unconscious that the gun was loaded, pulled the trigger. The charge took effect in the victim's head, blowing off the top of the skull and killing him instantly".
