An Irving Foor is listed on the 1961 and 1962 Viking Cross Country team at Jackson High School, Jackson, Michigan. Website appears to be just for the Viking Cross Country teams from 1930 to present.
The following is an obituary which mentions Irving Foor. The obit is for the supposed mother-in-law, formerly of Jackson, MI. The only Irving Foor I could find with this one born in 1945 who died in Michigan, so I'm assuming "Sheryl" mentioned in the obituary is his widow. All data on this family unconfirmed. Hopefully someone will be able to add updates.
Elsie Marie (Boies) Crider, age 83, of N. Ft. Myers, formerly of Jackson, passed away peacefully December 10, 2003 at Hope Hopsice in Cape Coral.
She is survived by her daughters; Sheryl Foor and Susan (Dennis) Larrabee; two grandchildren, Laurie (David) Valasck and Jeffery (Karen) Foor; three great-grandchildren; Alexander and Christofer Valasck and Eric Foor; sister, Bessie Sattler-Haight; many nieces and nephews and her dear devoted friend Otis Burke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years John 'Cal' Crider; parents, Albert and Bessie Boies; sister, Alice Street; brothers, Albert and Harry Boies; son-in-law, Irving Foor.
Elsie's love of life and her kind nature will be truly missed by her family and many friends. Throughout the years she enjoyed ballroom dancing, art, gardening, bird watching, and traveling in her younger years, she obtained a solo pilot's license and was a beautician in Jackson, she was a member of the Garden Club of Jackson and St. Nicholas Guild of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Ft. Myers, she belonged to St. Hilary's Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Tuesday, 11:00 AM with Reverend Lawrenco Walters officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, MI. Visitation at the funeral home Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be may to Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, FL. or St. Paul's Episcopal Church. CENSUS: 1820 Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH page 215 line 27 is for a John Humrickhouse. 4 males under 10, one 26-45, and one over 45. One female under 10, one 26-45.
Case #426 is the estate of John W. Humrighouse of Bloom twp., field in 1824. He had owned land in Section 34, township 14, range 20 (Bloom Twp.). Minor heirs mentioned were Phillip, Lewis, Mary, John, William and Hannah. The guardian of John, William and Hannah was George Graul. Administrators were Hannah Humrighouse and Henry Alspach, "Fairfield County Wills and Estate Abstracts, Cases 1-500", Fairfield County Gen. Society, April 1996, p 45.
DOB/DOD/POBurial: "Cemeteries of Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1996, p 86. Says he died at 52y 10m 3d, and died on Sep 21/24, 1824/1834. Believe it's probably 1824 since the estate records show that date. If you add 52y 10m 3d to the supposed birth date, it comes out to be Sep 24, 1827. Name spelled HOMRIGHOUS.
John W. Homrighouse, of Bloom Twp - heirs were, in 1827, John, Hannah and William, whose guardians were John and George GRAWL. "Fairfield County Wills and Estate Abstracts, Cases 501-1000", Fairfield County Gen., Society, June 1997, p 27.
DOM/POM: From "Ye Ancient Swains" - page on Fairfield Co., Genealogy's online website - info supposedly obtained from probate records. "Humrickhouse, Wm." and "Allspach, Johanna". License 10 Jan 1811.
Case #851 mentions that Conrad Wehr/Wear in 1833 was guardian of Philip, Lewis and Mary, children of John W. Humrighouse/William Humrighouse of Bloom Township, "Fairfield County Wills and Estate Abstracts, Cases 501-1000", Fairfield County Gen., Society, June 1997, p 37.
DOB: [John Homrighous] was born in Deadenshaus, Germany, November 21, 1781. His boyhood was passed in the Fatherland, but before he attained his majority he resolved to try life in America. Accordingly he embarked on the good ship "Speculation" and some weeks later landed at Baltimore. He returned to Germany a year or two later to revisit the scenes of his youth, but he came back to this country in 1805, and was a resident of Baltimore until 1810, when he ventured forth into the wilds of Ohio, and became a pioneer of Lancaster. He was finely educated, and his fellow-pioneers were glad to have him teach their children, so he taught for some time in and about Lancaster, and was one of the very first teachers of Fairfield County. He was a preacher in the German Reformed Church, and administered spiritual food to the people very acceptably. He was withal a man of thrift and industry and the quarter of a section of land that he purchased in Bloom township under his skillful hand became a fine farm, though it was heavily wooded when it came into his possession. He made it his home until he was called up highter to the realms of the blest. The maiden name of his wife was Alspaugh. She was of German antecedents, but was born in America. OBIT: Tragic Death Overtakes Mrs. Lyman Hickle at Marcy, Sunday Afternoon.
Flobert Rifle is Left on Bed By Son and is Accidentally Discharged By Mrs.
Hickle Who is Instantly Killed. Word was received in the city on Monday of
the tragic death of Mrs. Lyman Hickle, aged about 60 years, which occurred at
her home at Marcy Sunday afternoon by the accidental discharge of a 22
calibre flobert rifle which had been left lying on her bed by her son, Ralph
Hickle, aged 29 (or 20?) years, who had been shooting birds. The accident happened when Mrs. Hickle pulled the clothing off the bed, not observing the gun and it was discharged, the leaden missile piercing her intestines. She only lived a short time after the accident, although everything possible was done that could be done to overcome the effect of the ball. Lyman Hickle is a brother of Mr. George H. Hickle, the dry goods merchant of this city and the family is well known in Lancaster. The funeral was conducted Tuesday
afternoon from the home and was attended by Mr. and Mrs. George M. Hickle of
this city. [Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, June 22, 1915, p 1 & 3]

"The Daniel Shaffer that married Elizabeth Alspaugh in Fairfield Co., OH in 1806 was the son of John Shaffer and Rosannah Bennett. John was a brother to Joseph (above). This family died in Licking Co., OH. Catherine and Elizabeth were sisters." from Joseph Shaffer via July 2006 email.
Land records dated 14 November 1805 show that Daniel Shaffer of Fairfield Co., OH purchased 144 acres at $2/acre, in Section 6, Twp 14, Range 20.
Another land record dated 15 November 1805 shows that Daniel Shaffer and Peter Zuber of Fairfield Co., OH purchased property in Section 27, Twp 11, Range 20. Peter and Daniel were both residents at one time in Berks Co., PA.
Another record dated 7 July 1816, shows full payment made for Daniel Shaffer and Peter Zuber in section 27, Twp 11, Range 20. It also shows William Stump as assignee of Daniel and Peter. The certificate is signed by President James Madison.
I believe Daniel to have been a resident of Bloom Twp, Fairfield Co., OH at one time, as he definately owned property there. Most of his family remained in Ohio. Jospeh Shaffer, son of Daniel, served in the War of 1812 from Ohio.
ALL OF THE ABOVE was submitted by Joseph Shaffer via July 2006 email.
