"Long Illness Ends In Death of Boy 13 - Ernest Albert Beaty, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beaty died at 11:30 Thursday night at the home of his parents north of Canal Winchester. Death came after a lingering illness of several years. Several months ago he had his right arm removed and since that time has been in failing health. The child was confined in a Columbus hospital when the family lost practically all of their wordly possessions some time ago when their home burned to the ground. They were residing near Carroll at that time. Besides the parents he is survived by three sisters, Ruth, Mary and Alice, two brothers, Harry Jr., and Carl, all of the home. 1929 - Services For Burl Booth to be on Friday. Funeral services for Burl Booth, Logansport's oldest pioneer citizen who cied early yesterday morning, will be held at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning from the Chase Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. The name of the minister was not available last night. The Elks lodge will hold ritualistic services for Mr. Booth at the time of the funeral service. Mr. Booth's death came as he was approaching his 96th birthday. He was born in Logansport on Nov. 11, 1833, the year the Wabash & Erie canal construction started. Born in North Street. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Hart Booth, lived in a one story brick house in North street where the Jones apartment building now stands. His father was a direct descendant of John Hart, signer of the Declaration of Independence. He spent most of his boyhood days on a farm northwest of Logansport in a log cabin home, the place now being occupied by the Noble township consolidated school. His recollections of early Logansport were accepted as history. His memory was remarkable. Some years ago he wrote a series of articles for The Press entitled "I Remember When --" which dealt with Logansport's early days and the feature proved of wide interest. Fall Causes Death. Mr. Booth's death was the result of injuries to his head sustained in a fall at his home, 1107 Broadway. He was removed to the St. Joseph hospital on July 16 but because of his advanced age was unable to overcome complications which resulted. Death occured at 1:45 a.m. yesterday. Mr. Booth was a farmer and tailor until eighty years of age. He entired the Elks lodge in 1905 and the glory of being the oldest member has been his for the past several years. He was initiated into the Logansport lodge Dec. 7, 1905. He never held office, due to his advanced age, but was always an active member. He returned from Pascagoula, Mississippi three weeks ago where he had visited with his son Edward. Burl W. Booth is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Wisenberger, Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Martha McCandless, Seattle, Washington, Mrs. W. T. Giffe, 1000 North street, this city; one son, Edward B., of Mississippi. [Logansport Press, Logansport, IN., July 25, 1929]

1926 - "Ellen Cupp Will is Admitted for Probating Today", Admission of the
will of the late Clara Ellen Cupp was filed in probate court this morning and
according to the terms of said will, one Florence heating stove will be given
to Eva Cupp Leach. A dining room table, a Grandma's chair and six dinning
room chaires will be given to Mrs. Phillis Wells. The rest and residue of
the estate will be divided share and share alide between Edward Cupp, Dottie
Wells, Eva Leach and Owen Cupp. The will named Edw. Cupp executor of the
estate and he received his appointment in Probate Court this morning under a
bond of $6200. Letters testmentary were granted. [Lancaster Daily Eagle,

OBIT: Mrs. Lilly M. Foor of 612 North Spring St., Everett, died Tuesday, April 19, 1955 at her late home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Foor was born Oct. 21, 1880 in East Providence twp., a daughter of S. J. N. and Hannah (Manspeaker) Foor, both deceased. She was married to Albert D. Foor who preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1951. These children survive: Eugene of Everett R. D., and Harvey, Emory and Mrs. Grace Defibaugh, all of Everett; Mrs. Gussie Peight of Rose---[blotch] Calif., Webster of Everett, Mrs. Kathryn Wareham of Irwin, Mrs. Mary Goodale of Madison, Conn., and Douglas of Everett. A brother A. F. Foor of Everett also survivces, along with 36 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Deceased was a member of the Rays Cove Christian Church. He was born on February 12, 1917 in Robertsdale, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Roy Robert Foore and Mary Alice Cowan Foore.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years Juanita M. "Bonnie" (Ford) Foore. His two brothers Arthur "Art" Foore of Baltimore, Maryland and Roy Foore, Jr. of Hopewell, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mellissa Jean Crocker, Dorothy Conrad, and Thelma I. Scott. Three brothers, Jay Foore, Max Foore, and Wayne Foore.

Mr. Foore was retired as Chief Commissary Man with the United States Navy with over 20 years of service. He was a former Deputy Sheriff of Taylor County and was appointed assessor for Taylor County until his retirement. He held membership in the V.F.W. and American Legion and was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was a protestant by faith.

The family received friends for Mr. Foore on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton, WV, from the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Mr. A. Ray Shaw officiating.

Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites to be accorded by the V.F.W. Memorial City Post #3081, the American Legion Taylor County Post #12, and the D.A.V. Chapter #24 of Grafton and Auxiliaries. [The Mountain Statesman, Grafton, WV., Feb. 2, 2009]

Soliday was young when his father died and he went to the home of his grandmother and at the age of 11 years was bound out to his uncle, Henry Huntwork, with home he remained until he was 21, according to the contract. For two more years he worked on farms by the month, when he married and for five years afterward lived on his mother-in-law's farm. His wife then sold her interest in that property and he then bought 127 acres in Walnut Twp., which he farmed profitably and continued to add to the original purchase until it aggregated 400 acres... On December 21, 1876, Mr. Soliday was married to Miss Matilda Fenstermaker, a daughter of George W. and Rachel (Fairchild) Fenstermaker. SOLT Robert H. Solt, age 85, of Grove City, formerly of Canal Winchester area, left his earthy life June 30, 2003 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Bob was born November 12, 1917 in Bloom Twp. to Rollie M. and Edith Hartman Solt. Retired Vocational Teacher at Eastland Vocational School. Owner and manager of five milk routes delivering milk from farmer to the Bremen and Pickerington Cheese factories during 1935-1953. They in turn supplied dried milk and cheese to the U.S. military services. Bob secured a Ford franchise for the Canal Winchester area in 1946 and sold it to Paul Ricart in 1953. He worked several years for the Federal Government and then accomplished his life long dream of vocational teacher. He was an active member of David's United Church of Christ while his health permitted. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Solt Lehman, grandson Russell Carpenter and nephew Gene Lehman. Survived by his faithful wife of 63 years, Helen Dietz Solt; son, Ronald (Norita) Solt of Bettendorf, Iowa; daughters, Beverly Carpenter of Norman, Okla. and Janet (James) Brown of Grove City, Oh.; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2003 at David's United Church of Christ, 80 W. Columbus St., Canal Winchester, Oh., where friends may call 1 hour prior to service. Private inurnment in Lithopolis Cemetery. Cremation by the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, Oh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Central Fund at David's United Church of Christ in Bob's memory.

A guest at the Methodist home, Tyrone, died at 7.30 o'clock yesterday morning. He was born in Bedford county, Sept. 15, 1864, a son of Benjamin and Rachel (Kauffman) Whitfield and was united in marriage Aug. 6, 1889, to Carrie Barton at Crystal Springs, Fulton county. She died Sept. 4, 1926. He then married Nettie Hall of Hartford, Conn., who survives with these children, Mrs. Blair Ford of R.D. 1, Everett; Mrs. Martin Foor, Mrs. George Wigfield, Howard Whitfield, Clara Shoenfelt, Mrs. Lena Leighty, Edward, James and John Whitfield, all of Altoona; one brother and four sisters, John Whitfield, Mrs. John Hann, Mrs. Rebecca Foor, Mrs. Lena Pea and Mrs. Henry Leighton, all of Bedford county; 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Graham & Getz funeral home, Tyrone, from 7 o'clock this evening until 11 o'clock Wednesday morning and thereafter at the Lakemont Methodist church.
