Death: 21 MAR 1905, age 48. Maria Ellen Scheffler departed this life at her home in Lithopolis, O. at the age of 48 years, 10 months and 6 days. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband and three children, her mother, brother and sister and a large circle of relatives and friends. Her father and one child preceded her into eternity. In infancy she was baptized by Rev. Father Langes of Lancaster, O. She was instructed by Rev. Father Deala and made her first communion at the age of twelve years. She was united in marriage March 28, 1873, to Perry Lehmannn by Rev. Joseph Beck. To this union were born four children, Frank Lehman, Mrs. John Crepp of Columbus, and Maggie Lehman; one child, Edwin, dying in infancy. She was instructed by Pastor O.S. Oglesby and was taken into communicaut membership with St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation April 21, 1889. She remained true to her confession of faith, living in that steadfast faith which brings sweet consolation to wary souls in time of tribulation. As a mother she was true and faithful to all the duties of the home, spending her time and strength for the welfare of her loved ones. As a neighbor, she was always ready to do her part in any public work. The esteem in which she has held may be seen, in part, in the vast throng of people, who in sorrow attended her funeral. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. O.W. Weber, from St. John's Lutheran church, Thursday, March 23, 1905, at 2 p.m. Interment in Lithopolis cemetery. It seems sad to part with loved ones under any circumstances, especially so, when their place in the home cannot be filled. Many watched, hoped and prayed with eager hearts for the recovery of their loved one, but it was not God's will. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Our consolation in this hour of affiction is the hope of salvation in Christ Jesus. Mr. C.P. Lehman and family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all the many friends and neighbors who assistd them so kindly during the short illness of the wife and mother. Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God, in His wise Providence, to resolved. Resolved, That the Ladies Aid Society of which the deceased was a faithful and active member, deeply deplore at her departure as a great loss. Resolved, That while we humbly sumbit to the unsearchable but wise will of God, we are confident that the Lord has done well unto his servant. Resolved, That we express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, and commend them to the care of Him who doeth all things well. Resolved, That these resolutions be published, and a copy of them handed to the bereaved family. Mrs. Wm. Long, Mrs. J.L. Faler, Mrs. O.W. Weber. The following friends were present from a distance to attend the funeral of Mrs. Perry Lehman: Mrs. Stair, Newark; Mesdames Otney, Pearce, Timmes, Miss Clara Timmes, Mrs. John Timmes, Mrs. Elisha Lehman, John Otney, Lancaster; Mrs. Mary Lewis, Cleveland, Miss Louise Scheffler, Junction City; Elisha Lehman and son, Royalton; Sol Lehma, Bremen; E.S.
