Under Rebecca's information, also on page 215, it says she's Solomon's second
wife. There are no dates for Susannah.

Page 378, "Cemeteries of Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1996, it shows just "Susan, wife of Solomin L", no dates.

This is so very odd that two Solomon Foor's, one born 1828, the other 1830, both married first a Susannah M. It is hard to keep the families separate.

NOTE: I believe the death date is wrong. In a bio it says she died in early childhood. In a cemetery inscription done in 1942 by Charles Wagner and published in the latter-cited book, he shows "Virginia Bowser, daughter of M & M, died Sep. 1, 1840, aged 2m 27d". This seems more likely than the other info in same book which says she died at age 40. "Cemeteries of Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield County Gen. Soc., Chapter OGS, 1996, p 368.

[T15552] NAME/DOB/POB: Via email from Daniel FOOR [danielfoor@frognet.net] of Huron, Ohio, April 2000.

LOCATION: 1994 - listed with a Columbus, Ohio address [Medina Co., Ohio records]

Dean Charles Foor is listed as a Civil Engineer in Huron, Ohio - listed in the Arizona Professional Registration Roster of Civil Engineers, online database, June 2002.

This may be the Dean C. Foor whose article I found in a Charles Sturt University, Australia, college e-magazine in 2001. It shows his name as Dean C. Foor and has several pictures of him riding a bicycle. For the past 8 years in had lived in Alaska, but made arrangements to spend three years in Australia to follow a life long passion. He was then a student of the university in the wine science course, "his career shift is far removed from devising ways to clean up environmental disasters" as an environmental engineer - a job he had after he left Ohio State University with two engineering degrees in 1993. During those years he "worked accross the United States and spent six months in Germany, devising biological methods to clean up contamination". His love of brewing beer and fruit wine production led him to CSU "and for the next two years he will continue to commit himself to study. A former United States national beer judge, he says the progression was a natural one". The article mentions that for three months last year he cycled around western America, and alone he pedalled his was from Washington across the Cascade Mountains before heading to Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah and through the Rocky Mountains. "For Dean cycling is an outlet that gives him time to think and explore. When he eventually leaves Australias sunny shores in 2003, he is certain he will return to Alaska with his bike and perhaps a bottle of his own wine in the backpack". [Nov. 8, 2001, Charles Sturt University, Australia, "A Cycle of Change" article in their e-magazine.]

2008 - listed as one of many surviving grandchildren -- Michael Foor of
Grafton, Douglas Foor of St. Charles, Illinois, Dana Foor Wherley of Akron,
Dean Foor of Eugene, Oregon, Daniel Foor of Mountainview, California,
Christopher and Nicholas Foor of New London -- in the June obituary of Elsie
Viola (Conner) Foor.

"Mr. and Mrs. Peer are the parents of three children, Alvah L., Clarence and Ethel. All of them received their education in the McCracken schools, and all of them had certificates to teach before they were old enough legally to take up that work. Alvah L., who now resides at Oklahoma City, married Bertha Messall and has two children, named Juanita and Philip. He was graduated from the Kansas Wesleyan Business College at Salina in 1900, is an expert pen artist, and his proficiency in that line made him a very capable teacher. He taught in a business college at Savannah, Georgia, also in the Houston Business College in Texas, then became associated with W. B. Elliott as a commercial teacher in Charleston, West Virginia, and from there moved to Wheeling, West Virginia. From Wheeling he went to Tonkawa, Oklahoma, being one of the faculty in the State Normal School there five years. On leaving the school room to take up other business he moved to Oklahoma City, but there again was attracted to commercial work as one of the faculty of Hill's Business College. He is now in business in the development work of the oil and gas fields.

Clarence Peer, who is a rural mail carrier out of McCracken, married Maude Hanel, and their children were Manetta, Willamine and Benjamin. Clarence Peer is a genius with tools of any kind. Though he gives his time to his work in the rural free delivery department, he is an automobile repairer, a carpenter and can turn out a finished job of almost any kind with any class of mechanical tools.

Ethel Peer married Dr. J. O. Stout, a physician of Ashville, Ohio. Doctor and Mrs. Stout have two children, Alleen and May Catherine." 21 Jun 1793 - 10 Mar 1859

Family 1 :
  1. +Israel Shuman WEISZ

INDEX

[T109621]
Original data: Shuman, William C.. The George Shuman family : genealogy and history, from the time of arrival in America, in 1760, to the year 1913. Evanston, Ill.: W.C. Shuman, 1913.

"George Weisz was born in Northumberland Co., Pa., on the 21st of June, 1793." Parents were Christopher and Elizabeth (MUCK) Weisz. Mother was the d/o George and Barbara Muck. "When about 119... he joined a company of volunteers under Capt. Nerr Middlesworth, of Union county, PA, to serve in the war of 1812. He was appointed quartermaster, but before his regiment could join the army under Hull, that general had surrendered to the British commander. Shortly after this, he began his study for the ministry.

"His tuition was first under the Reverand Isaac Gerhard, and subsequently under the Rev. Dr. Helfenstein, senior, in Philadelphia. At a metting of the German Reformed synod in New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA., he was commissioned to visit Lancaster, Ohio, whence letters had reached the synod, earnestly calling for ministers.

"He reached Lancaster, Ohio, on the 20th of October 1816, and spent about two months in missionary work. After his return to the east, he resumed his studies under Dr. Helfenstein in Philadelphia, and in 1817 he was ordained to the gospel ministry by the German Reformed synod in York, PA. Arriving in Lancaster, Ohio, on the 11th of October following, he commenced his pastoral labors in the four counties, Fairfield, Perry, Pickaway and Ross, organizing congregations, preaching on the Sabbath and often on week days, instructing the young in catechism and attending to other pastoral duties.

"In aug. 24, 1819, he m. Catharine Shuman, of Millerstown, Cumberland Co., PA., on the Juniata rivver, the Rev. Isaac Gerhard performing the ceremony. Sept. 5th following, he attended the meeting of the synot in Lancaster, PA., and on the 25th of October, 1819, he with his newly wedded wife started for Ohio, to resume his labors in his large pastoral field.

"From his memorandum book it appears that they were fifteen days on their way from Millerstown, Perry Co., PA., to Lancaster, Ohio. This indicates the fatigue of such a trip in that early day.

"The homestead of Rev. George Weisz and Catharine, his wife, where all their children were born and reared, was deeed to George Weisz in 1819. At the death of Catherine, in 1865, Dr. Henry Crider purchased the property, and here Dr. Crider's family resided until the death, in 1897, of his wife, Sarah Weisz Crider, when it was sold into the hands of strangers.

"In his pastoral relation, Father Weisz was 'a workman who needed not to be ashamed'. His labors were arduous, supplying, as he did at first, some thirteen congregations which were scattered over four counties, at distances from each other varying from twenty to fifty-six miles. In process of time he formed new pastoral charges. Before the founding of the theological seminary at Lancaster, Ohio, he received and instructed in his own house seven young men and prepared them for the ministry.

"For about three years previous to his demise, Father Weisz could endure no hard exposure. He preaced occasionally and always with surprising perspicuity and power. His last sermon was preached on the 19th of December, 1858, in the German Reformed church of Lancaster, Ohio, on the text: Arise, shine, for thye light is com, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

"His death occurred March 10, 1859. In his last moments he spoke calmly but feebly; and gradually falling asleep, the mild rays of life seemed still to linger on his serene, though pale, features.

"Copy from a record in Rev. George Weisz's own writing:
