DOD/POBurial: Muscatine County, IA, GenWeb website; Greenwood Cemetery online database. Not all information included in database.

1960 - Mrs. George Foor, 29, route 5, was crushed to death about 5:25 p.m. Sunday when she fell from a moving car into the path of an oncoming automobile on highway 92-81 near Sunset Inn. She was dead on arrival at 5:35 p.m. at Muscatine General hospital... Mrs. Foor was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, 33. Foor told State Highway Patrol Officer Mark Irwin the right-hand door of the car swung open as he turned left onto a county road. He attempted to grab his wife when he saw her start to fall out but was unsuccessful, Foor said. The Foors' three small children were riding in the back seat of the car. An expectant mother, Mrs. Foor fell to the pavement in front of an oncoming car operated by Ernest Monroe Ross, 50, Mount Pleasant, Irwin reported. Ross, a former Muscatine resident, was traveling about 35 miles an hour. He applied his brakes but was unable to stop in time, he reported. Ross was driving southwest. Foor had been headed toward Muscatine until he turned to head for the Foor home on Funk's hill. Mrs. Foor died of crushing internal injuries. She also received head injuries and both her legs were fractured. Foor had left his work at Fruitland township turkey farm Sunday evening and driven to Letts to pick up Mrs. Foor who had spent the day with relatives there. They were on their way home when the accident happened... Mrs. Foor was born June 24, 1931 in Louisa county, the daughter of Earl and Nina Selzer Blake. She was married Oct. 29, 1949 at Muscatine to George C. Foor. She attended the Fruitland Baptist church. "John Bradley was one of the early settlers of Fairfield County, Ohio, shortly after 1800. He served in the War of 1812 as private in the company of Captain Jesse D. Courtright, Third Ohio Militia, from 26 August 1812 to 26 February 1813. John Bradley married Joanna Fitzgerald on 25 May 1804. She was the daughter of Henry Fitzgerald, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, who was an early settler in Fairfield County. John and Joanna Bradley had at least eight children, four boys and four girls, Julia, James, Joanna, Harriet (called Sarah), Henry, Michael, John and Margaret. It is evident that John and Joanna lived not only in Fairfield county, but also in Pickaway and Hocking counties as well. In 1850 John Bradley applied for bounty land on the basis of his service in the War of 1812. He was allotted 80 acres of land near Sugar Grove, Fairfield County, but he appears to have disposed of it.

In 1852, Michael, a son of John and Joanna Bradley, who migrated to Indiana about 10 years previously, came to Ohio and took them to live in Indiana. In 1855 John Bradley applied for additional bounty land in Indiana. He gave his residence as Kosciusko Co., Clay Township. It has been said that he turned this land over to his son James. I cannot say what county this bounty land was located in. Some say Huntington county. In his application, which was dated 5 May 1855, John Bradley gave his age as seventy one years, ten months and eleven days which would make his date of birth 25 Jun 1783.

John and Joanna spent their last years with the family of their son Michael in Butler township, Miami County. John Bradley died 15 September 1860 and Joanna died 20 February 1864 according to the inscriptions on the tombstone in Clayton cemetery on County Road 652E in Butler Township. If one assumes that Joanna Bradley's age at death was 78 years, as stated on the tombestone, the year of birth would have been about 1786. The only information I have been able to find on the birthplace of John and Joanna Bradley comes from the Federal census of 1880. Their youngest son, John Bradley, who was living at that time in Piatt County, Illinois, Sangamon Township, told the census-taker that his father was born in Ireland and his mother in Vermont."

John and Joanna Bradley had at least eight children, four boys and four girls, Julia, James, Joanna, Harriett (called Sarah), Henry, Michael, John and Margaret. I obtained these names in 1927 from Jennie (Nau) Swisher (1844-1936) of Oxford, Ohio, a granddaughter of John and Joanna Bradley." POD/POB: "Kohlers and Extended Family", gedcom posted at ancestry.com July 2004 by Ray Kohler.

" He died on Jul 12 1961 in Hanover, Adams County, Pennsylvania from work accident at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation quarry.", from a Cisney genealogy website, no author shown, at fortunecity.com, 2005.

OBIT: BLAIRS MILLS MAN INSTANTLY KILLED IN 59-FOOT FALL A 32-year-old Huntingdon County man, Russell R. Cisney of Blairs Mills, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon when he fell 59 feet from a swing scaffold while working on an Adams County construction project. Cisney, a widower, died of a fracture skull and internal injuries. Dr. C. G. Crist, Adams County coroner said. Cisney, father of a seven-year-old daughter, was working for a contractor who is erecting a large new building at the limestone quarry for the steel firm. He was engaged at placing metal siding on the building when the accident happened, according to State Trooper Charles J. Todd of Gettysburg who joined the coroner in the investigation. Another worker, Neal A. Sieber, 32, of 105 Academy Hill, Lewistown, narrowly escaped being killed in the mishap. He was working with Cisney on the same scaffold, but managed to grab a steel girder when the scaffold moved away from the side of the new building. Sieber was rescued from his precarious position by fellow workers. It is ironic that Cisney was taking necessary safety precautions at the time of the accident which cost him his life. It is the practice to drill a hole in the steel girder and then attach a one- foot steel bracket to the girder. A four-inch tie-in rope is then used to keep the swing scaffold against the building. Cisney, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Brady Cisney of Blairs Mills had just started to drill a hole in a steel girder to place a tie-in when another screw pulled loose and permitted the scaffold to move away from the building. When the swing scaffold moved back, Cisney fell forward, falling between the scaffold and the building. Sieber was beside the victim, holding the next piece of metal they planned to place on the new building as soon as Cisney had completed the safety tie-in. Sieber told Trooper Todd that he felt the swing moving away from the building and he called a warning to his buddy and then grabbed to a steel girder in order to save his own life. The warning came too late and Cisney plunged to the ground. Despite the fact that Cisney's death is listed as "instantly killed", he was rushed to the Hanover Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 3:50 p.m.

He was born February 4, 1929, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, a son of C. Brady and Nellie Irene (Campbell) Cisney. He was united in marriage to Mary Elnora Foore of Robertsdale on March 10, 1952. She preceded him in death on December 25, 1960. His parents of Blairs Mills, R.D., survive along with one daughter, Jeannette G., of Dry Run. One brother, Andrew Cisney of Shade Gap, and two sisters, Mrs. Dean (Lena) Berrier of Shade Gap, and Mrs. A. Lee (Wanda) Scott of Pughkeepsie, N.Y. survive. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Cisney graduated from the Orbisonia Area High School in 1947 and was a member of the Madden-Wennick Post 518 of Orbisonia. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Bridge Workers Union, Local 404. He had been on the job with the Bethlehem Steel County for four months. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Ott funeral home in Orbisonia. The Rev. Arthur Price of Shade Gap, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Robert Sunderland of the Shade Valley Methodist Charge, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Salem EUB Cemetery at Blairs Mills

[T58958] As correct details of the life of Mrs. Joseph BYBEE, who died Wednesday at Mentone could not be learned, today her obituary is given in this issue.
Lydia C. BYBEE was a daughter of Conrad and Sarah HAIMBAUGH, and was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, March 4, 1855, and passed away at her home in Mentone, Wednesday, February 21, 1923, as a result of paralysis.
Her parents moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana, when she was about six years of age. In 1864 the family moved to Fulton County where she resided continuously until about two years ago, except for a period of three years spent in Colorado for the benefit of her son's health.
She has been a member of the Baptist Church since seventeen years of age and was always a most faithful and ardent worker in all church activities. In 1872 she was united in marriage with Joseph BYBEE and to them were born two children; a daughter who died in infancy and a son, Rudy [BYBEE] who preceded her to the beyond, fourteen years ago.
She leaves surviving, her husband, Joseph BYBEE, two grandchildren, Mildred [BYBEE] and Elma BYBEE, Mrs. Rudy BYBEE, and seven brothers and sisters, Susan TOWNSEND, Henry J. HAIMBAUGH and Thomas R. HAIMBAUGH of Mentone, Mahlon E. HAIMBAUGH, Denver, Colorado, Dora B. GERST, Albany, New York, John R. HAIMBAUGH and Linnie ROGERS of Rochester.
Funeral services Friday, February 23, 1923 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mentone Church. "Fulton County, Indiana, Obituaries, 1923, The Rochester Sentinel", Tombaugh, 1997 [published online at Fulton County Library]
