LOCATION: 1918 - Wednesday evening, April 24, the Misses Susan and Alice
Baugher of 125 South Grant AVenue, Columbus, opened their home from 6 to 10
to about fifty Columbus residents who were their fellow townsmen twenty years
ago in Lithopolis. The misses Baugher are granddaughters of Frederick
Baugher who founded the village in 1814 and the party had therefore,
something of a special interest to the guests. More than anything else,
however, it was a reunion of men and women who were once closely associated
in the village, but who since leaving it had seen each other and the
hostesses only very infrequently or not at all. As a consequence, the
renewing of former neighborly associations, the retelling of the old local
stories and the recreating of the old town atmostphere made up a most
important part of the evening's pleasure. Immediately after an excellent
lunch of ice cream, cake, sandwiches and coffee had been served, Mr. Edwin S.
Stotz called the group to order. In a pleasing and feeling manner Mr. Stotz
then presented the Misses Baugher with several tokens of the esteem in which
they are held by their former neighbors, this being the only part of the
program that had been kept secret from the hostesses. [Lancaster Daily Eagle,

Although he was in so many engagements he was never wounded and always escaped capture. He then took up the nursery business in connection with his father, conitnuing until the fall of 1874, when he purchased a farm and for some years was identified with agricultural pursuits in Bloom township. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was married December 31, 1869 to Rebecca H. However, when using the death date on the certificate and subtracting his age at death which is also shown on the certificate, it works out to him being born Nov. 4, 1842 -- not 1832 as the certificate shows. His mother is also probably not Mary Allen, as she died in 1841. Also, there's a half-brother mentioned, above and HIS mother was Mary Allen).

[T95856] The Tribune-Democrat - "Area Babies Share Milestone Birthday"

According to Census Bureau calculations, the nation's g300 millionth person arrived at 7:46 a.m. Tuesday.

Yet no one knows for sure.

She could have arrived about 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center.

That's when Cameron Anne Vandermark came into the world.

"That's a lot of babies," mother Rebecca Kizina of Richland Township said. "I'm just glad I could contribute."

Hours earlier - at 8:32 a.m. in Somerset - McKelvey James Foor was born at Somerset Hospital.

His parents, Heather and Matt Foor of Berlin, were more thrilled about the arrival of their first child than the U.S. population milestone.

"I am just glad I added to it today," the new mom said.
