DOD: "Cemeteries of Bloom Tonwship, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1996, p 94. Notation says the stone is too deep in ground to read age. Listed as Eve Margaret Ebert, wife of Daniel.
And "Eve M. Alspaugh" age 81 b PA, is living with the Henry FUHR/FOOR family in the 1860 census, house #236. Henry would be Eve's son-in-law, as her daughter Caroline married Henry. I'm assuming this "Eve M" is Eve Margaret, but why the name "Alspaugh"? Is this her maiden name? Or was she remarried? Her tombstone shows EBERT. Am guessing at this point that since her husband died so many years previously, that she may have remarried.
DOB: estimated from being 81 b PA in the 1860 census.
CENSUS: 1840 Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., OH p 9 line 2, "Eve Evert". One male 5-10, one female 5-10, one female 60-70?

NOTE: Ellen was my [Shelly Hallard Beckham] first cousin, one generation removed. She had given me some info on her branch of the family and made sure I knew that her name on her birth certificate was Bode. Her dad, Hal Stroud, raised her as his own.
The last time I saw Ellen was in Grand Rapids, Ohio, in August of 2001. She was always a very slender woman, but on that visit she was much skinnier than usual. A year later she died of cancer in a wonderful hospice on River Road in Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was a teacher in the special education field and was divorced when her children were still at home. She never remarried.
OBIT: Ellen J. (Stroud) Karmol, age 62, of Petersburg, MI., passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born June 30, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, sh was the daughter of Harry and D. Ellen "Billie" (Strayer) Stroud. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1958 and attended Bowling Green State University. She was a member of the Samaria Grange, Bowling Green Alumni Association and lifetime member of Phi Mu. She was also director of the Lenawee County Women's Bowling Association.
Ellen was employed with the Monroe County Intermediate School District as an instructor for severely mentally impaired children since 1975. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, bowling, collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and being Thomas' grandma.
She is survived by son, John; daughter, Julia Hunter and grandson, Thomas Hunter, all of Petersburg, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends in the Farnham Funeral Home, 1125 W. Temperance Rd., Temperance, MI., Tuesday from 2 p.m. until services at 7 p.m. Captain and Mrs. Curtis Wyndham of The Salvation Army will officiate. In leiu of flowers, her family has requested memorial tributes to The Salvation Army or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551.
