"The will left by Johann Leonard Fuhr shows the he had six children. Although their names are not listed in his last will and testament, instructions were given to divide his possessions among his six children 'as our law says and directs'. On Sept. 29, 1769, an inventory of the possessions of Johann Fuhr, deceased was conducted by Henry Geiger and John Wassum with Mary Catharina Fuhr service as Executrix. Something must have happened to Mary Catharina Fuhr since John Fuhr and a friend or relative through marriage, John Schad, then place a type of caveat against the will. Subsequently John Fuhr became the Executor. On March 25, 1773, John contracted Benjamin Chass (sp?) register-general for the probage of wills in the Province of Pennsylvania to conduct an inventory of all goods and possessions of his late father. The contract for this service was 100 pounds paid to Benjamin Chass.
the final closure of Johann Leonhard's last will and testament occurred Dec. 13, 1774, under the administration of Lewis Gorden, D. A.
The dispersement of Johann Leonard's possessions apparently caused much dissatisfaction within the family. In the last will and testament written by Johann's son, Leonard Fuhr, on July 23, 1776, his brother John Fuhr was to receive from his estate 'only 5 schillings and no more'. His godson, Leonard Schnyder was to have six pounds and the remainder of his possessions were to be divided among his four sisters, Chalanna (sp.) Schnyder, Suzanna Wehr, Margareth Scholl and Mary Fuhr." [W. Eugene Foor, 1992]
