"A very important event in his [John R. Warren] life was his marriage in Pickaway County, Ohio, Sept. 21, 1843, when Miss Minerva A. Anderson became his wife. Her parents, Thomas and Delilah (Scothorn) Anderson were natives respectively of Indiana and Virginia. Her father died in Fairfield County, Ohio, Nov. 21, 1836 and the mother afterward came west to Shelby Co., IL., where she died at the residence of our subject Oct. 22, 1860. Mrs. Warren, who was the second among six children, was born in Fairfield Co., Ohio, Feb. 9, 1822, and was reared to maturity under the parental roof. After their marriage our subject and his wife located in Pickaway Co., Ohio, where they continued to live until the fall of 1849. At that time they came to this state and made their home in Tower Hill Twp., Shelby Co. There the wife died April 7, 1880. On February 23, 1882, our subject was again married, choosing as his wife Mrs. Elizabeth J. Dum, the widow of Samuel Dum, who died in Fairfield Co., Ohio. Mrs. Warren, who is a sister of the first wife of our subject, was born in Fairfield Co., Ohio, Nov. 21, 1825, and by her first marriage became the mother of six children, viz: Israel, Thomas, Effie A., Samuel, William and Homer." [10419] DOB/DOD: "The Descendants of John Bradley (1783-1860) and Joanna (Fitzgerald) Bradley (1786-1864)", Dr. Chester Bradley, Hampton, VA, 1975, p 190.

"John Bradley was one of the early settlers of Fairfield County, Ohio, shortly after 1800. He served in the War of 1812 as private in the company of Captain Jesse D. Courtright, Third Ohio Militia, from 26 August 1812 to 26 February 1813. John Bradley married Joanna Fitzgerald on 25 May 1804. She was the daughter of Henry Fitzgerald, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, who was an early settler in Fairfield County. John and Joanna Bradley had at least eight children, four boys and four girls, Julia, James, Joanna, Harriet (called Sarah), Henry, Michael, John and Margaret. It is evident that John and Joanna lived not only in Fairfield county, but also in Pickaway and Hocking counties as well. In 1850 John Bradley applied for bounty land on the basis of his service in the War of 1812. He was allotted 80 acres of land near Sugar Grove, Fairfield County, but he appears to have disposed of it.

In 1852, Michael, a son of John and Joanna Bradley, who migrated to Indiana about 10 years previously, came to Ohio and took them to live in Indiana. In 1855 John Bradley applied for additional bounty land in Indiana. He gave his residence as Kosciusko Co., Clay Township. It has been said that he turned this land over to his son James. I cannot say what county this bounty land was located in. Some say Huntington county. In his application, which was dated 5 May 1855, John Bradley gave his age as seventy one years, ten months and eleven days which would make his date of birth 25 Jun 1783.

John and Joanna spent their last years with the family of their son Michael in Butler township, Miami County. John Bradley died 15 September 1860 and Joanna died 20 February 1864 according to the inscriptions on the tombstone in Clayton cemetery on County Road 652E in Butler Township. If one assumes that Joanna Bradley's age at death was 78 years, as stated on the tombestone, the year of birth would have been about 1786. The only information I have been able to find on the birthplace of John and Joanna Bradley comes from the Federal census of 1880. Their youngest son, John Bradley, who was living at that time in Piatt County, Illinois, Sangamon Township, told the census-taker that his father was born in Ireland and his mother in Vermont."

John and Joanna Bradley had at least eight children, four boys and four girls, Julia, James, Joanna, Harriett (called Sarah), Henry, Michael, John and Margaret. I obtained these names in 1927 from Jennie (Nau) Swisher (1844-1936) of Oxford, Ohio, a granddaughter of John and Joanna Bradley." "The Descendants of John Bradley (1783-1860) and Joanna (Fitzgerald) Bradley (1786-1864)", Dr. Chester Bradley, Hampton, VA, 1975, p 190-192.

DOM: In the Lancaster Eagle, January 3, 1878, "Matrimonial Market", p 3, it lists many names under "the following requests to marry was granted by Judge Rigby since our last report". Among the names are "J. W. Crist and Alice Cruit". The woman who typed this in an email message said the spelling was horrible, which may be why the name is shown as J. W. Crist rather than I. W.

"The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. [William and Mary (Kiger)] Cruit was blessed with eight children, and five of that number are yet living. Edith died at the age of 15 months. Alice is the wife of Israel Christ [sic], a farmer and fruit grower of Bloom township, and they have four children: Ersie, Annie, Kirby and William. Elizabeth is the wife of Albert Heins, who is engaged in blacksmithing in Royalton, Fairfield county, and their children were Mamie and Ruth, at home, and Glenn, now deceased. John is a resident farmer of Greenfield township, who married Pauline Kemp, and their children are Hazel, Ure Agnues, Merrill and Francis. Anna is the wife of Dr. Monhank, of Royalton, and they have two children. Mary and Chester. Hetta is the wife of Jesse Hughes, a son of John Hughes, a prominent farmer of Amanda township. W. J. was born upon the farm where they are now living, and he married Sarah Lezenbe. Jesse Hughes resides upon the farm owned by our subject, and has two children, Freeman Cruit and Charline. Clara died at the age of four years and 27 days. Hannah died at the age of four years and 28 days. All the children born unto Mr. and Mrs. Cruit were natives of Fairfield county." "... my great grandmother Metta [Foor Good]. I remember her somewhat
since I was only 4 when she passed away. She was quite a character. I always
remember hearing that she crossed the US in a covered wagon with her
parents. She suffered from diabetes and had one leg amputated before
her death. What I remember is that she refused to have the other one
amputated and subsequently died. She and my great grandfather [James Durias Good] lived on the family farm near McClure in Damascus township. My grandfather [Roland Cecil Good] had the farm across the street and helped farm both farms all his life. Roland C. was called 'Mike" by most people. I don't have a clue why. We always went to grandparents for Sunday dinner, played in the barns, watched the milking, played softball in the cow pasture and helped gather eggs with Grandma."
