The following is from George Krueger, Feb. 2008 emails:
"I am doing research on my family and have been able to trace them back to living on a farm outside of Lockville in Fairfeild county. My grandfather was David Christian Krueger, his wife was Anna Regina (Beckman) Krueger and children were Augusta Maria, Caroline Louise, and Carl Frederick William. They arrived in Lockville, Ohio in 1863 from Prussia and lived for a short time with David's sister Mary (Krueger), I do not know the last name. David did farmwork for an Andrews family and later a farmer named Crumley who later allowed him to sharecrop on the farm. Family members also worked for a Mithoff family that owned a distillery in Lancaster. I have found the mother and children listed in the 1870 Bloom Township census spelled Keiger and the 1880 Amanda Township census spelled Kruger. I believe that David died from over working in flooded farm fields in the late 1860's and would be b uried in Fairfield cnty somewhere close to Lockville. I know that Augusta married a Levi Oman in 1884 in Columbus and moved to Kansas. The rest of family moved to Ks in the 80's.
"I do know a little more about the family. They arrived from Prussia on the ship Deutschland on the 2nd of Nov. 1863. Father was David Christian Krueger, b. in 1820, his wife Anna Regina (Beckman) Krueger b. Sept. 2, 1820, 2 daughters, Augusta and Caroline, born respectively in 1848 & 1850, and a son William, born in 1855. I know that they came to Lockville as David had a married sister who had immigrated to Lockville a few years before. I do not know her married name. I also know that David's brother came to the U.S. a few years later but they never made contact in the U.S.
I have found the burial places of the mother and all 3 children, all in Kansas, just haven't been able to locate David."

OBIT: Mrs. Amanda Cook [sic] is Summoned. Mrs. Amanda Koch, an old resident of Champaign county, passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Hoy, 301 North Race street, Urbana, at 8:15 last evening. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be at Mt. Olive cemetery, near Mayview. Amanda Catharine Dressback was born in Ohio, May 25, 1838 and was married to Reuben C. Koch in 1855. They resided there about six years, when they moved to this state, and farmed in the vicinity of Mayview. In 1873 they purchased the present Koch homestead, a mile and a quarter north of Mayview. Mr. Koch died in 1876. She remained on the farm until about ten years ago, then going to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Birdzell, in Champaign. Mr. and Mrs. Koch were life-long members of the Universalist church of this city. Mrs. Koch is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Hoy, Mrs. Mahalah Birdzell of Champaign and Mrs. Augusta Drullinger of Chester, Neb., and one son, Frank M. Koch of Clarksdalle, Miss. A sister, Mrs. Sarah Brown of Prague, Okla., also survives. She was a sister of the late John Dressback of St. Joseph. [Urbana Daily Courier, Saturday, March 07, 1914, Page: 1].
1917 - Presiding in probate court today Judge Freeman dismissed for want of
jurisdiction claims by B. F. Stoltey, Elizabeth Wnedling Stoltey and the
First Church of Christ Scientist against the estate of Amanda C. Koch, late
of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Stoltey, who are practitioners in the Christian
Science church, presented claims aggregating $140 for readings conducted at
the bedside of Mrs. Koch during her last illness. Mrs. Hoy, daughter of Mrs.
Koch and administrator of the estate, is a Christian Scientist and was
willing to pay for the readings. The other daughter, Mrs. Mahalah Birdzell
of Champaign is a non-believer in that faith however, and refused to sign a
chock jointly with mrs. Hoy against the estate's account in the Citizens bank
of Champaign. The readers and the church then presented three claims against
the estate which were disposed of by Judge Freeman today. [Urbana Daily
Courier, Saturday, April 14, 1917, Page: 1].

"Then, in the same neighborhood of the elder Harris was the farm of Daniel Foor. He, too, was always found at the Methodist services. And how he did enjoy them! In the scroll of memory I still see him, sitting in what was then called the 'Amen Corner', near the pulpit, with his head thrown back, and his strong bass voice roaring the words of the song, 'What a friend I have in Jesus'. Many years have rolled by since he went to meet that friend. A member of his family, known to me only as 'Granny' Brakebill, was a great friend of my mother. But I dod not know, never did, what relation she bore to the household. The term Granny was then used as one of the greatest respect." "THE VILLAGE.
