GROOM Leola Fern Cormany Groom, born near Lithopolis, OH in Fairfield County on August 15, 1912, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. Preceded in death by her husband George, parents Herbert and Pearl Hoffman Cormany, siblings Herbert, Ruby Carlove, Lucille White, and Betty Jane Fatiga. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, George (Mary Anne), Joseph (Susan), John (Linda), and James; grandchildren, Gina, Mick, Jennifer, Gary, Gillian, John, Michael, and Elizabeth Groom, Anne (John) DiBlasio, Jessica and Kaylin Parker; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha and Matthew Groom, all of Columbus; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Ruth) Cormany of Columbus and Max (Dorothy) Cormany of Ashville, OH; brother-in-law, Gene Fatiga of Columbus; nieces and nephews. Nearly 50 years a parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and member of ARC 12. She was a dedicated mother and wife, who loved her family, her roses and writing poetry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 at Pope John XXIII, 5170 Winchester Southern Rd. NW in Canal Winchester. Msgr. A. Anthony Frecker, Celebrant. Family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Interment Lithopolis Cemetery. "John N. Dunkel, father of George S. Dunkel of Germany ancestry, was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, to John and Catherine Morehart Dunkel and married Leanna Stout on July 29, 1847 at Circleville, Ohio." "John Dunkle and Catherine Morehart were married in Reading, Pennsylvania, on July 6, 1819. John was born Sept. 13, 1797 in Berks Co., Pennsylvania, and Catherine, December 1, 1801. They moved to Pickaway COunty, Ohio. Them them were born 14 children. Two died in infancy. Their twelve remaining children were Jacob, John N., George, Johnathan, David, Andrew and Mary -- twins, Anne, Sarah, Catherine, Lavina and Betty. In 1855 the entire family, some married, came by wagon train to Menard County, by way of Logansport, Indiana. Here Jacob, the oldest son, married an Indian girl and remained in Logansport. The rest of the family settled in Menard County. Here John died October 30, 1867, and Catherine, March 5, 1872. They are buried in Richland Cemetery near Pleasant Plains. Leo H. Foor Dies In Dayton Hospital
Leo H. Foor, 61, of 723 Frazer street, died at 5:50 a.m. yesterday in Veteran's hospital, Dayton, from second degree burns received April 27, in his garage.
The accident happened when gasoline ignited as he cleaned spark plugs. Mr. Foor was taken to Findlay hospital and later to Dayton.
He was born Aug. 27, 1889, in Leipsic, a son of Charles M. and Amanda E. (Davidson) Foor. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Marion F., 305 East Lima street; Charles W., 1020 West Main Cross street; Harvey L., 723 Frazer street; Harold L., 533 East Main Cross street; Emmett D., Leipsic; Mrs. Lillian Hosler (sic) and Mrs. Scott Hosler (sic), Lima; and Mrs. Herman Beck, Fostoria.
Mr. Foor was employed as a carpenter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Coldren funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

1894 - John McGowan, while working on the addition to the F. H. Cole company's store yesterday had an iron girder fall on his foot crushing it badly and severing an artery. Dr. Catto sewed up the artery and dressed the injured member. [Daily Review, Decatur, IL., Aug. 18, 1894]
Death of John McGowan. John McGowan, who has been sick for some time with an attack of pheumonia, died at 10:30 o'clock this morning. John McGowan was a son of Capt. Samuel McGowan and resided at 905 North College st. He was a carpenter and contractor and was honest with those for whom he did business. He was 39 years and 3 months old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife, a daughter 11 years old, a father and mother, four sisters, and one brother, who all reside in Decatur, except one daughter [actually a sister], Mrs. McKelvey, who resides in Chicago, and the other brother, Charles, who lives in California. He was a member of Decatur Camp No. 144, Modern Woodmen, and carried life insurance in the same of $3,000 in that organization. The funeral will be from Grace M. E. Church at 2:30 p.m., Rev. R. G. Hobbs officiating, assisted by Rev. D. F. Howe. The Modern Woodmen will attend the funerail in a body. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. [Daily Republican, Decatur, Il., Jan. 14, 1896]

In the year 1858 was solemnized the marriage of Mr. Dill and Miss Marian Harris, daughter of Philemon and Jane (Needles) Harris and a granddaughter of George Needles, who came from his native state of Delaware to Ohio in 1803, and became one of the first settlers---in fact the first taxpayer-in Fairfield County, where he reclaimed from the forest wilds a productive farm in Bloom Township, the first Methodist Episcopal Church in that county having been organized in his home. Mr. Dill has been an active member of. the Methodist Episcopal Church for sixtyfive years, and his wife for an even longer period They are now among the most venerable and revered members of the South Methodist Episcopal Church in their home City of Columbus, and in the gracious evening of their lives they may well feel that "their lines are cast in pleasant places. Born July 20, 1943 in Pickaway County to the late John J. & Margaret "Margie" (Brungs) Seyfang, she was a 1961 graduate of Walnut High School.
Survived by her husband of 46 years, Terry N. Thompson, Sr.; sons, Terry N. (Gianna) Thompson, Jr., Gerry R. Thompson, and Larry L. (Julie) Thompson; grandchildren, John Jacob Thompson, Tyler N. Thompson, Ryan A. Thompson, Samantha C. Thompson & Jack W. Thompson; nepews, John Seyfang, Christopher Seyfang & Shannon Seyfang. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond, Sr. & Edna Brungs; brother, John David Seyfang; and niece, Stephanie Seyfang.

She was a member of the United Methodist church of Lakewood.
Surviving are one son, Woodrow Foor of Lakewood; one sister, Mrs. Coy
(Gertrude) Askins of Morton, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
