There must have been two Lucy B.'s, as one dies in 1857 at 1 1/2 years, and
another appears in 1870 and 1880 census's. Granddaughters Lucy B. and Ella
appear with the grandparents as Granville is found in Walla Walla, WA in 1857
and 1870 (p 308)
Thomas J. Ellis' will was written 10 April 1875 and we know he died in November 1880. He leaves to "Thomas Ella Foor, my beloved granddaughter of Weston, Lot 198 Block 16 in Weston. And to beloved granddaughter, Lucy B. Foor lot 196 and Lot 197 Block 16 in Weston." And to his daughter Diana Miles the sum of $1.00. (Note: the census does not show a daughter Diana although she could have been already married by the 1850 census. A receipt in the probate file indicate that Diana is Mrs. D. M. Miles of Southwest City, MO (have no idea where that it)). The two granddaughters also get all of his personal property and effect after paying his just debts and funeral expenses.
John M. Railey, my friend, is appointed as Executor. Mr. Railey, on 12/6/1880
declined to serve per this letter to Probate Judge: "You will see from the
will of Uncle Tomy Ellis that he has appointed me Exr. If it was at all
necessary of course I would qualify and attend to the business - but it suits
Mr. Schneider (August Schneider) to attend to it much better than myself, as one of the girls makes her house at his home. Any endorsements or security that you may think neccessary he can give - and I am satisfied he will attend faithfully to the interest of the girls. Yours truly, J. M. Railey"
Final Settlement dated 1/4/1883 shows Ella Foor had already received
$100 from the estate so she received $7.70 while Lucy Foor received $80.88.
Another receipt in the file is dated 17 April 1883 for $7.75 and signed by Mrs. J. W. Knepper, nee Miss Ella T. Foor. (There is no Platte Co. marriage for Ella to Knepper, however, Leavenworth, KS is so close that they may have wed there. It would also appear that Lucy B. may have lived with August Schneider.
Mr Schneider was 28 yrs old, a grocer born in Zurich and living with his
mother, Christina in Weston on 1870 census. Do you suppose Lucy ended up marrying him?

Township,, Fairfield Co., OH", Fairfield Co., Ohio, Chapter OGS, 1994, p 44.
OBIT: After only a week's illness and without warning of the final stroke, Mrs. Soloman L. Hummell passed away at her home in Eagle township, Monday night at 10:30 o'clock aged 72 years and nearly two months. She leaves her husband and three children, Clifford E. and Edison A., of Eagle township, and Mrs. A. B. Walters, of this city. There are also two grandchildren, Mary Hummell and Mildred Walters. Mrs. J. E. Kieffer of 203 East Lincoln street, is a sister of the deceased. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Thursday forenoon at ten o'clock, services to be conducted by Rev. Passold, her pastor, and interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery. Mrs. Hummell was born October 18, 1838, in Fairfield county, Ohio, and came to Hancock county with her husband and children April 5, 1869, locating on the farm where she resided until her death, a period of nearly forty-two years. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran church, in Eagle township, for many years. She was married May 13, 1858, to Solomon L. Hummell, and they celebrated their golden anniversary two years ago last May. Her death was as peaceful as was her peaceful life - free from pain or worry. The end was not anticipated by her loved ones, who were inexpressibly shocked to find her passing beyond the shadows when they approcahed her bedside on Monday night after a momentary absence. Although not in robust health for two years past, she had been confined to her bed but a week, and her taking off was as unexpected as it was sudden. [info posted in the Dec. 2006 gedcom submission of Craig Kieffer to rootsweb.com]
