OBIT: Mrs. Sarah Foor Fletcher, the beloved wife of John L. Fletcher, fell asleep in Jesus at her home in Mann Addition Friday morning, March 23. Four weeks before, while walking across the room, she caught her foot in a rug and was thrown heavily to the floor, fracturing her hip, the injury ultimately causing her death. During her illness she was ever mindful of the loved ones who cared for her and fearful lest she would be a burden to them. Her only answer when asked what could be done for her was, "I want rest, and that my Father will soon give me." She was beloved by all who knew her and was familiarly called "Grandma" by both white and black. Mrs. Fletcher was born in Ray's Cove March 3, 1815, in which place she spent the greater part of her life. When only seventeen years of age, she found peace with her Savior; and has all her life been a consistent Christian, a devoted wife and a loving mother. She was the mother of ten children, four of whom preceded her to her heavenly home -- Rev. J. F. Ockerman; Samuel Canady, who was killed at Drury's Bluff, SC., May 16, 1864; Jacob Fletcher, and Lizzie, wife of W. B. Hanks. She is survived by her aged husband, two sons and four daughters, namely W. Scott Fletcher of Bedford; H. Clay Fletcher of Everett; Mrs. Henry Triddle of Moorefield, W. Va.; Mrs. Barbara Bucy, of Jamison City; Mrs. Matilda Harre, of Coketon, W. Va., and Miss Judith Fletcher, at home. Thirty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Barney, of the Christian church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Bedford Cemetery. "Her toils her past, her work is done, and she is fully blest; She fought the fight, the victory won, and enters into rest." [Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA, March 29, 1901]
"The will of Mrs. Sarah A. Fletcher, late of Bedford, has been filed in the register's office. To her daughter, Juda Fletcher, decedent gives $300. The balance of her estate is to be equally divided among her sons and daughters--John Aukerman, W. Scott Fletcher, Jacob Fletcher, H. Clay Fletcher, Mrs. Nathan Hanks, Mrs. Miles F. Harr, Mrs. Henry Friddle, Juda Fletcher and Mrs. James Bussey. Her household goods are not to be sold but kept for the use of her husband, John L. Fletcher. After his death the personal property is to be sold and the proceeds divided among testator's heirs. W. Scott and H. Clay Fletcher are named as executors", [Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA., April 5, 1901]

"John Reber, whos handsome brick residence built after modern architectural design attracts the eye of every visitor to Prairie Twp., Shelby County, was born in Fairfield Co., Ohio, Jan. 2, 1838. His parents, T. V. and Rachel (Allen) Reber were natives of the same county, the father being born in 1807 and now living in Wyandot County that state, and the mother, who was born in 1809, having died in the county just named in October, 1890. Of the family ot T. V. and Rachel Reber, there were eight children, and our subject was the second in age. Light thousands of young men from Ohio he came to Illinois, arriving here October 5, 1867 and locating on the farm where he now resides. He has since that time effieciently carred on the business of farming and stock-raising. This State was visited by his father about the year 1850, and he then entered the land from the Government, which afterward came to this son by inheritence. Mr. Reber has a splendid farm of 480 acres, and upon this he has recently erected a new home, a view of which appears on another page. March 23, 1891, was the happy wedding day of John Reber and Mrs. Clara Thompson. Mrs. Reber is a native of Shelby Co., and a daughter of the Rev. Mr. Stamper, of Herrick, this county. She was first married to William Thompson, of Shelby Co., who died in 1890. [Ancestry.com. Shelby and Moultrie Counties, Illinois Biographical Dictionary [database on-line].
