Blake Ave. where his wife eventually died as well. The address is shown as "203 E. Blake Ave." on the certificate, but listed as being in Jamestown, Greene Co., OH. This makes absolutely no sense. At the bottom of the certificate there's a notation that looks to be in the same handwriting as the doctor that says "is a true copy of the death certificate in my office at [??????word I can't read]". No where does it say on the certificate that the 203 E. Blake Ave. address is in Columbus, Ohio. The way it's written it looks as if the address is in Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio. Perhaps he died in Jamestown while on a visit? Nevertheless, the info is still rather sketchy. Seymour H. Kost of 203 E. Blake Ave., died Jamestown, Greene Co., Ohio, Oct. 23, 1935, aged 68y 3m 19d of a cerebral hemorrhage, duration of 2 days. Retired painter. Married to Ella May Kost. Born July 4, 1867 in IL to William Kost b Hocking Co., Ohio and Sarah Blosser b IL. Informant was Mary A. Kost of Jamestown, Ohio. Buried Union Cemetery Oct. 26, 1935 (again, there's no mention that this cemetery is in Columbus).

1967 - Car Plunges into Creek, Five Persish - Circleville, Ohio - A 36-year-old woman learning how to drive hit the accelerator instead of the brake at an intersection north of here Tuesday night, sending the car plummeting into a rain swollen creek. She and her four children drowned. Her husband, who was teaching her, survived. Vester Phillips, 31, of rural Ashville told authorities he jumpe from the car before it submerged completely in Big Walnut Creek, then tried to rescue his wife and children. But swift current force him to leave the water, he said. Sheriff's deputies recovered the bodies of Ruby Phillips, 36, and sons Gary, 7, and Donald, 3. Bodies of the other two youngsters, Diana 11 and Wendell, 9, could not be found in nearly five hours of searching by scuba divers. Additional divers resumed the search this morning. At one point during the search for bodies, a distraught Phillips, who suffered only minor physical injuries, tried to jump back into the water. He was restrained by sheriff's deputies and onlookers. A shaken Phillips told of climbing back to the road hysterically and trying to flag down four cars that passed. None stopped, he said. Finally, a farmer who lives nearby heard Phillips' shouts. He turned in the first report to authorities. [Athens Messenger, Athens, Ohio, May 17, 1967]

[6671]
In 1805, Lewis Scothorn seems to have left Greenbrier County, with wife and two children, and crossed to Ohio, probably making the journey in the old covered wagon of that time or possibly on horseback. He took up a goodly piece of land in Walnut township, Pickaway County, which, although then in the center of a wild and unsettled section, was favorably located as to water, the first consideration among our pioneer fathers. The mother of Mary and Joseph died while the family was still new in this locality. At a later date Lewis Scothorn married a Miss Tallman and six sons and two daughters were born to them, who bore the names of Lewis, John, William, George, Charles, Samuel, Eliza and Sarah.
Lewis Scothorn died in 1816, having lived in Walnut township during the whole of his life in Ohio. He was a typical pioneer and gained a great local reputation as a woodsman. He was a man of great industry and began the clearing of the pioneer farm which he did not live to complete.
The widow of Lewis Scothorn subsequently married a Mr. Turner and in her age was generally known as "Grandmother Turner" in her neighborhood, where she lived to advanced years. Mr. Turner died shortly after marriage.
"[Lewis Scothorn] was the son of Lewis Scothorn, Sr., and was born in Chester county, PA., in 1765. Joined the great immigration soon after the Revolutionary War, to the "Greenbrier Country" the region known today as Greenbrier county in West Va., when then comprised a great scope of country. The particular county later where he settled is known today as Monroe county, West Virginia. Here he married and later moved to Pickaway county where he died in 1816 and is buried in Reber Hill cemetery near Amanda, Ohio. [Eiler, Homer,. Our ancestors : a record of these families .... [30246]
Mary Elizabeth Sterling/Starling appeared to have two illegitimate children; Harvey and Albert. Albert's death certificate shows his last name as Wilson and his father as William Wilson and mother as Mary Sterling. William Wilson is listed with Mary Sterling and her children in the 1900 census, but they are not married and her children bear the name of Sterling. Either these were truly William Wilson's children born out of wedlock, or they were someone else's children and William adopted them. My guess is the former. Mary lists herself as widowed in subsequent censuses, but then lists her name as Wilson. Her estranged husband, however, does not reside with her. His death certificate shows he was married (he died before her) but no wife was mentioned in his obituary.

UNCONFIRMED. Adam Foor had a daughter Mary who married Robert Waters in 1841 and died in 1842. Perhaps she died in child birth, and James is the child. I'm assuming only at this time that James and Jasper, shown on 1850 and 1860 census's, are the same individual.

Clarence Casterline, Brother-in-law of John Streiter
Three local men were drowned late Sunday afternoon or Sunday night on Little Cedar lake, three miles west of Chelsea, when they broke through the ice while fishing. The tragedy was not discovered until early Monday morning and the bodies were not recovered until about 7 o'clock that morning.
The victims were:

Casterline's brother-in-law, Benjamin Kuhl, Sharon township, became alarmed about 1 o'clock Monday morning when the three men failed to return to their homes. He went to the vicinity of the lake and found a deserted automobile and a coat on the shore belonging to one of the men. Deputies at Chelsea were notified as well as Sheriff Jacob B. Andres. Deputies Clyde Bennett and Alex. Schlupe were sent to the scene.
When the bodies were recovered Dr. E. C. Ganzhorn, coroner was called, who said an inquest was not necessary.

Informant was Elizabeth Brown of the Methodist Home for the Aged. Buried or Removed to Amanda, Ohio, June 8.
In looking through the Amanda township cemetery book, there is no Amos Williamson listed. My guess is that he's buried at Amanda Twp. cemetery and either no stone was ever erected or it was not there when they did a reading.
NOTE: Interesting that Amos married and was living all the way west in WA., but came back to Ohio to be put into a home for the aged... while it appears his wife then went back to WA where she's found in the 1930 census in the Estern State Hospital in Spokane Co., WA as an inmate, aged 55 b Canada, parents b England. She must've went back to be near relatives.
