HOY--Of pneumonia. Friday, Nov. 20, 1885. Miranda H. Hoy, nee Custer, wife of Abraham Hoy at their residence, near Lithopolis Fairfield county, Ohio. She was born Jan. 30, 1842. Her age was 43 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was the mother of four children. One of which preceded her, another almost immediately followed her. Mrs. Hoy was a member of the Bloom Chapel congregation of the Evangelical Association. She was an exemplary christian, a faithful wife and an affectionate mother. She leaves a husband and two daughters who mourn, yet not as those who have no hope. Her funeral was held at the same with her daughter Emma, Monday, Nov. 23d. It was very largely attended testifying to the respect in which she was held by the people. A large circle of relatives and friends regret her death and sincerely sympathize with the deeply stricken family. THE OHIO EAGLE, Dec. 31, 1885, p 5.
NOTE: I think the "two daughters" was actually suppose to be "two sons", as it appears both of her sons were still living and she died the same day as her only surviving daughter, Emma.

MARRIAGE: From the online site of Michael Robert Fritsch, 6016 Beaumont Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46825-4502, Oct 1998. Emailed him and he's not responded. Believe 'my' Glenn Roger FOOR is the same as his Glen Roger Foor. Although the spelling of the first name is off, and no dates of birth or locations are given for either Glen (mine or his), his website deals alot with those of Adams Co IN, and my Glen is descended from a father born in same county. Therefore, I'm assuming the Glen in Fritsch's database is the same as mine. He shows additional information -- a spouse and two children, which I've added.

OBIT:
Henry L. Foor Sr., ôHank,ö passed away Friday, July 8, 2011.
Parents Lloyd and Mary Foor gave birth to Hank in Woodville PA on Sept. 23, 1932. Hank came from a large family of 14 siblings; he leaves behind two brothers and four sisters while joining his parents and siblings who have passed before him.
Remaining siblings include: brothers, Bob Foor and Victor Foor; and sisters, Ruth Ford, Lora Ritchey, Helena Bolin and Eunice Rush.
In 1954, Hank headed west to Hollywood, California, in search of work but never made it past Superior, Arizona. This seemed to be a paradise for him coming from the country as a young 22 year old farm boy using outhouses. There were rumors of job opportunities in the mining community and there was this wonderful new thing called a flushing toilet. Hank did in fact find work in the copper mine but the greatest treasure found in Superior wasnÆt the flushing toilets, it was his wife Trevlene Montgomery. They had a brief courtship and were married Sept. 11, 1954 and started life together, celebrating 56 years of marriage.
Hank's work history is mostly within the mining industry working in variety of underground and surface mining operations in the western United States. He began his career as a young laborer and progressed to a variety of supervisory roles. HankÆs most loved occupation was being a drilling and blasting superintendent. Not bad for someone who only had a seventh grade education.
Hank stopped going to school the day he stole an apple and the teacher tried to spank him for the infraction. The story his family tells is that Hank bit the teacher on the leg that day, which was the end of his academic studies.
One of HankÆs greatest passions was spending time with family especially during holidays. Hank could never remember names when he wanted something and ended up giving nicknames to all his children. He would just say Tina-Terry-Tracy-Tami knowing that one of those names was yours. Except for his son, who was always just Son. The nicknames included George, LuAnn, Marline and Peanut. Some of the fondest memories his family has are the years they spent living a small mining community in Christmas, Arizona, where they all grew up to maturing their own lives.
Hank retired in 1990 due to health issues and spent his remaining years in Globe. In Hank's retirement he dedicated his life to God and church enjoying his life with Trevy and their little dog Peanut. Of course the naming the dog Peanut has nothing to do with one of the girls having the same nickname, but there is a slight resemblance.
Hank was loved and trusted by many in the community. He never knew a stranger and was quite the people person. His wit and humor was his best attribute. In his last days his concern was geared towards others without regard for himself as he knew his destiny was of grandeur and peace.
Hank leaves behind an enormous legacy of five daughters and a son who have blossomed the family to 15-grandchildren and 29-great grandchildren. Children include: Beverly Campbell, Tina Holt, Terry Aden, Tracy Foor, Tami Norman and son Henry Foor Jr.
Visitation was held yesterday at Miles Funeral Services Globe Chapel. The funeral is set for Wednesday, July 13, 10 a.m., at Word of Life Assembly of God, 1011 Live Oak Street, Miami. Interment followed at Globe Cemetery, Hackney Avenue, Globe.
Services were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe Chapel.

"George Ring was a native of Vermont. He first located near Kingston, Ross County, Ohio. From Kingston he moved to Berne Township, Fairfield County, and settled on what is now known as the J. R. Pearse farm. There he built a fulling and carding mill. In 1817 he purchased a lot in Carpenter's addition to Lancaster, where he erected a large brick building into which he moved his family. He soon built the woolen factory which was a first operated by water from the Hocking. James Rice was his partner in the mill business and so continued until the year 1833. [Wiseman, C. M. L.. Wiseman, 1898, c1897, p 70]
" John Latt, Benjamin and John Connell came to Lancaster about the year 1813 and commenced the business of merchandising under the firm name of Latta and Connell. The store was opened at sunrise and their clerks remained on duty until late at night. John Connell retired from the firm in March, 1823, and in the year 1825 Richard M. Ainsworth became a partner and the firm was known as Latta, Connell and Company. In the year 1828 Benjamin Connell sold his interest and retired to his farm on the hill west of town. The name of the firm was then changed to Latta and Ainsworth. January 22, 1834, John Latta retired on account of poor healt. R. M. Ainsworth, John G. WIllock, who came to Lancaster from Scotland in 1826, and James Rice became the properietors. Rice retired from the firm in 1838 and the business was continued by Ainsworth and Willock until the year 1847. [Wiseman, C. M. L.. "Valentine Wolfe, one of the honored pioneers of Madison Twp., was born and raised near Fredrick, Maryland. About the year 1814 he, with his family, emigrated to Ohio, and cast his lot in Madison township, where he raised his boys and sent them with good habits and strong constitutions out into the world. His sons were Ezra, Salem and Isaac. James Rice, long an honored and esteemed business man of Lancaster, was a step son. James Rice was for quite a number of years a partner of George Ring in the woolen mill business, at the foot of Broadway, Lancaster. He was a partner of Silas Hedges for a short time in the dry goods business, and in his old age was a clerk of John Work in the tin and stove business. He was the father of William P. Rice, who died in California, and whom John Sherman mentions as one of his schoolmates at Howe's Academy. He is mentioned by the Grand Duke of Saxe Weimer, who visited his factory and complimented his goods in the year 1825. Wiseman, C. M. L.. Pioneer period and pioneer people of Fairfield County, Ohio.
