How the transcription was done:
The census taker used quote marks for surnames. To try and keep it as authentic as possible, I also used quote marks in that column. If the same surname is written more than once in a family, it's because the census taker ALSO wrote the name more than once. Often this is an indication that the person is related to the head-of-household as a mother, sibling, niece or nephew, rather than a wife or dependent.

Sometimes there were obvious errors, such as writing "f" in the column for female when the person was obviously a male. Sometimes the census taker put a mark in the column for attending school even though it was the wife and mother of the family and sometimes over 30 years old. Error or not, I put the data in "as is" and would sometimes put a question mark behind it in the transcription to let YOU know that I'm aware of it and it was not an error on my part. Surnames may appear to you as mispelled... in fact, some I know for a fact were not the spelling the family used during that time period, but in order to keep it as authentic as possible I used the spelling the census taker used.

Fractional ages, almost always ending in a twelfth, were reduced by the database program I used. For instance, 6/12 was converted to 1/2, 4/12 was converted to 1/3, etc. Sorry! I have attempted to change all of those that reduced to "4m" for four months, etc.
